The symbol of serpents had disappeared both in America and Japan.

In ancient America, it's because of the Spanish conquest which destroyed the native American's beliefs.

In Japan, cultivation started after the Jomon period(~B.C. 2C) and they restored the crops in the wooden warehouses, with high floor which was hard for mice to reach.
Along with that change, they were forgetting about the snakes which could prevent the mice from reaching the vases, an older way of storage.
