My Bloody valentine
My Bloody Valentine は 1984 年に Ireland の Dublin で結成された。 バンド名の由来は初代ボーカリストの David Conway が見た Ｂ級ホラー映画の題名が気にいってバンド名にしてしまったという事になっている。 だが名付け親は数枚のレコードを発表した（This Is Your Bloody Valentine, Geek, The New Record By, and Sunny Sundae Smile）後にあっさりバンドを去っていってしまった。 一応理由としてはツアーの間に内臓を悪くしたという事になっている。なお初代のメンバーにはこの他に Tina（実は David Conway のガールフレンド）というキーボーディストもいた。

Kevin Sheilds | Guitar, backup vocals, bass 実質的なバンドのリーダー。最近は少し精神的に切れてしまったのではないかと疑われている。また Sonic Boom の E.A.R.に参加したりもしている。 |

Colm O'Ciosoig | Drums 最近はソロ活動を中心に Laika の １ｓｔ アルバムに技術者として参加したり、Kevin と一緒に新人バンドのプロデュースをしたりしているようだ。 |

Bilinda Butcher | Guitar, vocals MBV の歌姫といえばこの人の事。 最近は Collapsed Lung っていうバンドの EP に参加したりしている。遠くを見ながらそのクセ何もみていない様な目が印象的だ。歌声にもどこかそんな響きが感じられる。 |

ところで一番新しいアルバム "Loveless" が発表されてから、すでにあまりに長い年月が過ぎてしまっているが、彼らは別に解散したわけではなさそうだ。何故新しいアルバムを発表しないかの理由を彼らのファンの WEB から拾ってみると
大体 "Loveless" 自体かなり録音に時間がかかったようで、例えばドラムも殆ど Colm の生音は使わずに、そのサンプリングした音を再度プログラミングし直して録音したりとか、まったく病的なこだわりをもって録音された。そのあたりからも原因は Kevin の精神状態によるものと思われる。 結局 新アルバムについては、色々な情報が交錯している。
先ずタイトルは "La La La Human Steps" で曲のリストは
であるとか、プロデュースは "Loveless" でエンジニアをした Andy Wilkinson との共同プロデュースになるとか（今までは全てバンド自体がプロデュースしていた）、と思うと実は Kevin は未だ1曲も書いていなかったとか．．．．
ところでワイドショウ的話題だが、私として一番気にかかる Kevin と Bilinda の関係だが、現在（１９９４年以降）は別れたが "Loveless" を録音している頃は私生活を共にしていたようだ。また Bilinda にはすでに 13/14才になる Toby という名前の子どもがいるが、その子は Kevin の子ではない。
