ProDOS clock patcher Disk Image (binhex)

ProDOS 8 Thunder Clock driver needs to be patched every 6 years. This 3.5" disk-image includes the patcher by Apple, among other utilities. Mainly for 'IIe' emulator.

DOS 3.3/ProDOS commands (plain text, English)

What's ApplePC (html, Japanese/English)

ApplePC is the Apple II emulator on DOS. If you own SoftPC or SoftWindows from Insignia, you can try this emulator on Mac by 'emulator on emulator' fashion. Here's a guide. BTW, there's a rumor that Connectix may release a competitor to SoftWindows that blows the door off Windows emulation. Early reports offer promises of near-Pentium performance on a midrange Power Mac!

EMULATORS (HOME SITES, DOWNLOADS, ETC):

8-bit Apple II Emulators
• STM: Cassandra ftp site is the home of STM, which is the most famous Apple ][+ emulator on Macintosh. Current version of STM is 0.881r.
• IIe: Vincent and Victor Tan's World Wide Web Home Page is the main distribution site of 'IIe', which is new Apple //e emulator on Macintosh. IIe is more powerful than any other IIe emulator in both Mac and DOS world. Version 3.0.x is much faster and much more compatible than 2.0.x. Current version of IIe is 3.0.1.
• ApplePC: ApplePC ftp site is the home of ApplePC, which is the most populer Apple ][+, //e, and //c emulator in DOS world. You need SoftWindows to run ApplePC on Mac. Current version of ApplePC is 2.52b.
• AppleWin: AppleWin's home seems to be inside of Asimov. It runs on 32-bit Windows systems, i.e. Windows 95/NT or Windows 3.1 with Win32s version 1.25 or later (Asimov has it). You also need SoftWindows to run AppleWin on Mac. Current version of AppleWin is 1.1. Source code is available, too.

  Apple IIGS (16-bit) Emulators

• The Hindenburg Project Home Page: Many people has been trying to build Apple IIGS emulators. Here's one of such projects. The emulator now has the official name: GSx. No working versions yet released.
• The Official XGS Home Page: Another IIGS emulator project. XGS is the portable emulator and alpha version is available for UNIX/X. Mac version hasn't come yet. You can run XGS on MKLinux for Power Mac, though. You will need ROM image from real IIGS which is not available on web as far as I know. Current version of XGS is 0.3.
• Gus by Apple Computer, Inc: Gus is the pre-releace IIGS emulator by an Apple engineer Andy Nicholas, et.al. Believe it or not Here's a screenshot of 'about' window. Andy and other Gus engineers have been so busy working on MacOS 8, that we can't expect for the final releace soon, but possibility is a publication of pre-releace version.
• IIGS Emulator by Fast Eddie Labs: The alfa version of this IIGS emulator has sent to selected testers (IIGS programmers). No public release, yet.

  Miscellaneous sites

• Emulation on Macintosh - Apple ][: Comprehensive and very current information on Apple ][ emulators on Macintosh. Worth visiting.
• Mat Vigor's Apple ][ Emulation Page: Mat is (was?) working on a project to convert all the EAMON adventures (computerized version of 'Fantasy Role-Playing Games') to run under ProDOS instead of DOS 3.3. Here's his own Eamon archive.
• Cowgod's Apple ][ Emulation Page: This site features AppleWin. Some disk images are also available here.
• Apple ][ Forever: Here's something that you can't get elsewhere, including the picture of Beagle Brothers' 5.25" disk sleave (Remember?). Beautiful page.

• Apple ][ Classic Games Page: You will find a lot of beautiful screenshots of Apple ][ classic games here. Games themselves aren't downloadable.
• apple][ FOR EVER!!: This Japanese site holds a couple of Apple ][ games with sample screenshots. The author says he will add more games and some instructions in Japanese.

• Asimov Archive: This site holds hundreds of disk-images which can be used with various Apple ][ emulators (STM on Mac, ApplePC on DOS, AppleWin on Windows, etc). Emulators themselves are downloadable, too. [mirror 1] [mirror 2]

• Juno collection (ftp): Another repository of Apple ][ disk-images.
  

NON DISK-IMAGE PROGRAMS (MOSTLY UNIVERSITY SITES):

• Washington University of St. Louis: Tons of bsq/bsc files.
• University of Michigan: If you can't get in, try to use web access or gopher menu instead.
• California Institute of Technology: The Apple II Archive is located in /Zocalo/pub/apple2. This server currently has a limit of 15 simultaneous users. Alternate gopher menu is also available.
• University of Kentucky: Yet another University ftp site.
• University of Iowa: Uiowa Archive has moved here. The biggest and very current! Highly recommended.
• University of North Dakota: This server is curretly undergoing a major overhaul and currently unavailable (8/1/96).
• Apple II Public Download Area: This archive is rather small, but well organized and kindly commented. Canadian site.
• Spacelink-Apple II: NASA site. You can find some scientific softwares for Apple ][ here.
