JDJ - an instance of Alternative Turn-table

[Jump to Japanese page]
This page introduces an application which models the turn-table for Night-Club DJ as an expression using Java Language.
"JDJ- an instance of Alternative Turn-table" downloads and plays music data provided on the Internet. You can insert and play your original disc as well.

Known problem

No monitor-out
JDJ doesn't have monitor-out to check the preparing track. That is because the JMF Player API has only one output line, but this problem could be solved when the Java Sound API which is being prepared so far is generally available.
Only a few sound formats are supported
The JMF packages listed above are all in beta release at this time and not fully functional. The future revision and general availability are expected.
Cannot mix two tracks (Windows95/NT)
According to Intel's words, this is because ActiveMovie 1.0 on Windows95/NT doesn't support mixing function at this point. Have to wait for the future fixes.

Further extensions

I'd like to implement the following functions if possible.
Net-wide broadcasting through stream
A virtual dance club could be equipped by broadcasting tracks mixed with JDJ...
VRML support
People can dance along with music on the VRML multi-player server ;).

Your impressions and opinions about JDJ are welcome.
